Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has sparked a fresh political debate after questioning actors Vivek Oberoi and R. Madhavan over their reported residence in Dubai despite publicly praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India’s development.
Speaking at an event organised by the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS), the student wing of the MNS, in Mumbai, Raj Thackeray criticised the Central government and questioned the decisions of prominent personalities who, according to him, choose to live abroad while expressing support for the government’s policies.

During his speech, Thackeray claimed that several industrialists had shifted their base outside India over the years. Referring to Bollywood personalities, he mentioned Vivek Oberoi, who portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2019 biographical film based on the Prime Minister’s life.
He also referred to actor R. Madhavan, saying that both actors have appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s leadership on various occasions.
“If they believe India is progressing so well and support the government’s vision, then why are they living in Dubai with their families?” Thackeray asked during the event.
