Delhi Police have intensified scrutiny of social media activity linked to recent student protests, issuing notices to several X (formerly Twitter) accounts over posts that allegedly contained abusive or objectionable content directed at the Prime Minister and security personnel.
According to official sources, the action follows a detailed review of posts, videos, and comments shared during and after the demonstrations. Investigators are seeking information from the account holders as part of an ongoing inquiry into content that may have violated legal provisions or affected public order.
Online Activity Under Close Watch
Police officials said specialised cyber and social media monitoring teams are continuously tracking online discussions related to the protests. Any content found to be offensive, misleading, or in violation of applicable laws is being examined, with notices sent to the concerned social media intermediaries and users for further action.
Authorities stated that multiple posts identified during the review process have already been removed after being flagged.
Focus on Misinformation
Apart from offensive content, investigators are also examining the spread of misinformation, manipulated videos, and misleading narratives circulating on social media during the protests.
