A political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after a man died during a public rally led by actor-turned-politician Vijay. The incident has triggered sharp reactions from the opposition AIADMK, which questioned the safety arrangements and crowd control at the event.
According to reports, a large crowd had gathered at the rally when a man suddenly collapsed after his health deteriorated. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The incident caused panic at the venue and raised concerns over the management of large political gatherings.
Reacting to the development, AIADMK leaders accused the rally organizers of negligence, alleging that inadequate safety measures and poor crowd management contributed to the tragedy. The party used strong symbolism and sharp remarks to highlight what it described as “irresponsible politics” that puts public lives at risk.
Supporters and associates of Vijay, however, termed the political criticism unfortunate and insensitive. They maintained that the incident was tragic but should not be used for political point-scoring. They also stated that necessary permissions were taken and administrative officials were present at the venue.
Meanwhile, local authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident. Officials said the exact cause of death will be determined after post-mortem reports and a review of the event’s security arrangements.
The incident has once again brought the spotlight on safety protocols at large political rallies, with growing calls for stricter norms to prevent such tragedies in the future.
