The political temperature in Uttar Pradesh has risen once again after former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reacted sharply to recent remarks made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed Akhilesh’s response as an example of political double standards.
BJP leaders accused Akhilesh Yadav of attempting to divert attention from his party’s past record, alleging that during the Samajwadi Party’s tenure, efforts were made to withdraw cases against influential individuals. According to the BJP, the opposition leader’s criticism lacks moral authority and is driven purely by political compulsion.
Senior BJP functionaries reiterated that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s position on law and order is firm and consistent. They emphasized that the current government follows a “zero tolerance” policy toward crime, asserting that the law applies equally to all, irrespective of political or social influence.
Responding to Akhilesh’s statements, BJP spokespersons said the opposition has no concrete issues to raise and is therefore resorting to rhetoric. They claimed that the public clearly remembers the contrast between the previous regime and the present administration’s approach to governance and public safety.
Political observers believe this war of words is likely to intensify in the coming months, especially with elections on the horizon. For now, the BJP’s aggressive counterattack has added fresh momentum to the ongoing political battle in the state.
