Namo Bharat Corridor Brings High-Speed Regional Connectivity Between Delhi and Meerut

SHARE:

India’s push toward modern and efficient public transport received a major boost with the launch of the Namo Bharat Corridor by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The high-speed regional transit system is designed to significantly improve connectivity between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, offering faster and more comfortable travel for daily commuters.

The Namo Bharat trains are capable of reaching a top speed of 160 km per hour, making them the fastest metro-style trains operating in India. With an operational speed of around 100–120 km per hour, the corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut to nearly one hour, compared to the earlier journey of over two hours by road.

Developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the corridor features modern infrastructure and advanced safety systems. Trains are fully air-conditioned and equipped with automatic doors, CCTV surveillance, comfortable seating, and dedicated spaces for women and differently-abled passengers. Stations are designed with platform screen doors and digital ticketing systems to ensure convenience and security.

Officials believe the project will not only ease traffic congestion but also reduce pollution by encouraging people to shift from private vehicles to public transport. The corridor is also expected to stimulate economic growth in the region by improving accessibility for businesses, students, and professionals.

The launch of the Namo Bharat Corridor marks a significant milestone in India’s regional rapid transit development, setting a benchmark for future high-speed urban mobility projects across the country.
