Pawan Kalyan has once again grabbed public attention after candidly speaking about his long political journey and comparing it with the rapid success of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. Speaking at a public gathering, the actor-turned-politician admitted that watching Vijay achieve political success in a short span of time made him feel “jealous,” though he said it in a light-hearted manner.
The statement quickly became a major topic of discussion across political circles and social media platforms, with many praising Pawan Kalyan for his honesty and openness about the struggles of building a political movement from the ground up.
During his speech to party workers, Pawan Kalyan reflected on his 15-year-long political journey. He said politics is far more difficult than cinema because it involves handling public expectations, building trust, and keeping large groups of people united.
He remarked that even within families it is difficult to get everyone to agree on one issue, and managing a political party with thousands of workers and supporters is an even greater challenge. According to him, launching a political party with the goal of social transformation was one of the biggest risks of his life.
Jana Sena Party was founded by Pawan Kalyan in 2014. Initially, the party struggled to make a major electoral impact. In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, the party won only one seat, and Pawan himself lost from both constituencies he contested. At that time, critics questioned whether Jana Sena would survive as a political force.
However, Pawan Kalyan continued to strengthen the organisation and maintained his presence among the people. Over the years, he built a loyal support base, especially among youth and first-time voters. His political strategy later shifted toward alliances, and he joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Telugu Desam Party.
The 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections marked a turning point for Jana Sena. The party contested 21 seats and achieved a 100 percent strike rate by winning all of them. This performance established Pawan Kalyan as one of the most influential leaders in Andhra Pradesh politics and eventually led to his appointment as Deputy Chief Minister.
In contrast, Vijay witnessed a much faster political rise. The popular actor launched his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, in 2024 and quickly emerged as a major force in Tamil Nadu politics. In the 2026 Assembly elections, TVK won 108 seats and became the largest party in the state, ending the decades-long dominance of the DMK and AIADMK.
Political observers believe Pawan Kalyan’s remarks also highlighted the different political cultures of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. He has previously stated that the political environment in Andhra Pradesh is heavily dependent on alliances and regional equations, while Tamil Nadu has historically embraced charismatic film personalities more directly.
Many analysts feel that Pawan Kalyan’s comments reflected not bitterness, but admiration mixed with the realities of his own hard-fought journey. His willingness to openly discuss setbacks and struggles has strengthened his image as a grounded and relatable leader.
