The re-examination for NEET-UG 2026, one of India’s largest and most competitive entrance tests for medical education, was conducted successfully across the country with the participation of more than 20 lakh (20 million) aspirants. The examination was held under extensive security arrangements and close administrative supervision to ensure a fair and transparent process.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the examination, organised the test at 5,440 centres across India and at several centres overseas. Candidates appeared for the examination in 13 different languages, allowing students from diverse linguistic backgrounds to take the test in their preferred medium.

The re-exam was held after the earlier examination conducted in May was cancelled. As a result, the latest test carried significant importance for lakhs of students aspiring to secure admission to medical and dental colleges across the country.

To maintain the integrity of the examination, authorities implemented a range of security measures. Aadhaar-based biometric verification and facial authentication systems were used to verify candidates’ identities before entry into examination halls. CCTV surveillance remained active throughout the examination process, while electronic jammers and multi-level frisking procedures were deployed to prevent any malpractice.

The successful conduct of the examination was supported by a large network of officials, including district administrations, security personnel, invigilators, and technical teams. According to officials, the examination represented a coordinated effort involving multiple government agencies working together to provide a smooth experience for students.

Special emphasis was also placed on inclusivity. Thousands of candidates with disabilities were provided with facilities as per prescribed guidelines. In addition, special arrangements were made for students dealing with serious medical conditions, ensuring that health challenges did not become a barrier to their academic aspirations.

Reports from various examination centres indicated that the process remained peaceful and well-organised. Students and parents appreciated the arrangements made at the centres and expressed hope for a transparent evaluation process.

With the examination now concluded, candidates are eagerly awaiting the announcement of results and the commencement of counselling procedures. The outcome of NEET-UG 2026 will determine admissions to undergraduate medical courses in institutions across India, making it a crucial milestone in the academic journey of millions of aspiring doctors.
