A political controversy has erupted in Assam following the emergence of a report alleging possible foreign links, triggering a sharp exchange between Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi.
Reacting to the report, Chief Minister Sarma stressed that matters related to national security must be handled with utmost seriousness. He said any claims involving external connections should be thoroughly verified through appropriate channels, adding that transparency is essential to maintain public trust. According to him, political considerations should not overshadow issues of national interest.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, however, dismissed the allegations, calling them politically motivated and lacking credible evidence. He accused the ruling party of attempting to divert attention from governance-related concerns by raising unsubstantiated claims. Gogoi reiterated that neither he nor his party has any involvement in unlawful or foreign-linked activities.
