A devastating fire at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, has claimed the lives of at least 10 patients, triggering panic inside one of the state’s largest government healthcare facilities. Several others were injured in the incident, while many patients were safely evacuated during a large-scale rescue operation carried out by hospital staff and emergency teams.
According to officials, the fire broke out late at night in one of the hospital wards. Thick smoke quickly spread through the building, creating a chaotic situation as patients, attendants, and hospital workers tried to move to safer areas. Many of the victims were reportedly in critical condition and receiving treatment when the incident occurred.
Hospital authorities immediately alerted emergency services. Multiple teams from Odisha Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot with fire tenders and rescue equipment. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before bringing the situation under control.
